What a historicized economic theory means. A look back at the methods of three generations of institutionalism

Abstract

This article brings together three approaches of historical institutionalism: the German Historical School; original American institutionalism; and the French regulation school. It enlightens the methodological principles shared by these approaches and analyzes their application to the process of theoretical elaboration.
