Abstract

The term ‘work’ is far from unambiguous in economics, sociology and philosophy, and the categorization of an activity as ‘work’ is the subject of value conflicts. By examining the cases of domestic work and digital work, we can identify a broad but potentially consensual concept of “work”, in which work is defined as a relationship between a client and a subordinate.
